Contemporary Worship
The Grace United Methodist Church Contemporary Worship Service is unique because of its style of music and informal atmosphere. There is an extended period of worship with praise and scripture songs as the worship team leads the congregation into a time of prayer and reflection, followed by Scripture and the pastor's message. The service often concludes with an opportunity to commit one's life to Jesus Christ through an invitation made by the pastor.
The music of the Contemporary Worship Service comes from a diversity of sources, but mostly from contemporary Christian composers. Occasionally we may hear a familiar hymn to an upbeat tempo. The music is led by a worship team that uses piano, keyboards, guitars, drums and other instruments to accompany our voices raised in worship. In a sensitive manner, these leaders help the worshipers enter into the realization of God's presence.
The worship team was formed in 1993 as Grace Church implemented the contemporary worship service. The worship team itself has been invited on many occasions through the WPA Conference, local church and community events coordinators to lead worship services.
