Below is "Letter of Introduction" February 15, 2007
Dear Friends:
Our God is a God who calls. In the same way God called Moses, Esther and the disciples, God calls us in order to fulfill God's specific purposes for our lives. In the Old Testament, God called Abraham to leave his country, his people and his father's household and go to the land God would show him. In the New Testament, God called Paul to carry the gospel of Christ to the Gentiles.
God also calls in unique ways. God's call to Moses came through a burning bush. God's call to Mary came through the angel Gabriel. In much the same way Jesus called each of the disciples who left everything to follow him, Saul also heard the voice of Jesus calling. In each case, it was their willingness to say, like Isaiah said, "Here I am, Lord. Send me." that made God known to people everywhere in ways that changed the world forever.
It's our turn now. As people of Grace, God calls us to grow in our love and our commitment to share love with the community around us in ways that will make a difference in their lives and in the lives of others by saying "Yes" to God's purpose for us. God's purpose is for us to reach more effectively the people in our neighborhoods, schools and workplaces throughout the county in meaningful ways with the good news of Jesus Christ.
In order to do so, 26 members of our church family have said, "Yes" to God's call in their lives by agreeing to serve as Directors and Coordinators of our Called to Grow campaign. Together, they will help us respond to the vision God has given us to establish a ministry, worship and community center and make improvements to our existing buildings that will enable us to continue to provide places where ministry in the name of Christ can take place for generations to come.
The Called to Grow campaign is off to a great start. As a church, our history is not one that found us willing to settle or rest on past accomplishments. As a church, ours is a history that has also been marked with challenges God used as opportunities to do something strong. It's why God has been the one who has received all the glory!
Because God is faithful and equips those he calls to accomplish what he intends, through the Called to Grow campaign we can count on God to do it again!
In the coming months please keep the Called to Grow campaign in your prayers. Begin now to also pray how God would have you participate in the campaign and ways you can be involved. A Question and Answer brochure will be mailed to you next month. The brochure will include basic information about the campaign and important dates for you to remember as the campaign unfolds.
