Our Mission Statement:      engage. empower. expand

Empower!  What a great word for Grace!  We want each person who enters our church to be empowered through the Holy Spirit to do great things for the Kingdom.   Pastor Bill’s message this week focuses on the word EMPOWER using sermon text Ephesians 1:15-23.

This Sunday, after church, we are empowering folks to go into the community to share the love of Jesus!  Whether you signed up or not, you are welcome to join one of the work crews:
Leaf raking/bagging for seniors    (Bring your favorite rake and gloves!)
Cleaning the Chevy Chase Kitchen
Helping to move one of our members to a new home.  Pickup Trucks and strong backs encouraged!!

Christobel Russeliah, from India’s Gilgal Gospel Mission, will be with us this weekend.  She will speak briefly in each service and will be in the Welcome Center between services on Sunday morning.  Please take a moment to greet this amazing, dedicated missionary.

As we celebrate Veterans’ Day on Sunday, you may want to take a moment to see the latest Veterans’ Honor Roll along with the others in our narthex.  We extend our heartfelt appreciation and respect to all who serve or have served.

Bring a STUFFED ANIMAL to church!  Women’s Fellowship is collecting “Love Bears” and other stuffed animals of all sizes to give to children facing surgery, lab work, and other procedures at IRMC.  November is “Love Bears Month,” and there is a collection bin in the Welcome Center.  Help comfort a child in a tough situation!  (Stuffed animals must be new and have their store tags attached.)  “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” – 1 Corinthians 13:7

Women’s Evening Fellowship will meet on Tuesday, November 13 at 7:00 pm in the parlors.  They will be getting the donated Love Bears ready for distribution, so any help would be greatly appreciated.  All ladies are welcome to attend an evening of fun, food, and fellowship!

Grace church is in the “It’s a Wonderful Life” parade again this year!  We will be handing out candy from the float while singing along with our contemporary band.  We are asking for individually wrapped candy, Christmas themed or no theme at all.  Please place candy in the parlor kitchen up until the day of the parade–Friday, November 16.  The parade starts at 7:00 pm on Philadelphia Street so keep an eye out for the church float!

Grace U.M. Church is again hosting the annual Thanksgiving Concert of Praise, produced by The Christian Witness, Inc., on the evening of Sunday, November 18. This year will be the “Silver Anniversary”, and should be an exciting event.  Featured are some musicians from the past as well as many new voices.  The Concert starts with a variety of “Prelude Music” at 5:45, with the “Concert” starting officially at 6:30.  Afterwards, there will be refreshments in Fellowship Hall.  Please plan to attend.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide children around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to these children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. If you wish to participate, please visit the display in our Welcome Center to pick up a pre-printed shoe box and brochure with shipping label and instructions.  Boxes must be taken directly to the collection site at Summit Church at 2707 West Pike Road, Indiana.  The church is open from 9 – 5 Monday through Thursday.

Food Bank Ingathering Reminder:   On the 11th and 18th of November, the Food Bank Committee will have trucks located in the parking lot and on 7th Street in front of the church for your donations to the Food Bank Ingathering initiative.  Our youth will be available to help you with the donated groceries.  Along with extra grocery bags, envelopes are available in the Welcome Center for those who wish to make a cash donation.  Just drop the Food Bank envelope in an offering plate or in the collection box in the Welcome Center.
Last year, we gave nearly 1500 people food from the Grace Church food bank.  The food and funds we collect here will go a long way toward feeding the hungry in Indiana County this Christmas and through 2019.  Your food bank is definitely an opportunity for us at Grace to share God’s love.   Your food bank committee.

Ten Top Reasons to Join a Church Choir:

– You’re running out of clean clothes and the robe saves on laundry.

– The church is usually crowded and you want to make sure you always have a seat.

– You’ve just been selected for jury duty and you want to get use to sitting with a large group of people.

– The collection plate is never passed to the choir.

– There’s a clock in the back of the church and you want to know when one hour has passed.

– For years you have wanted to know who sits in the back of the church but were afraid to turn around and look.

– You’ve been known to nod off during the service and don’t want the pastor to catch you.

– The chairs for the choir are padded and are the most comfortable chairs in the church.

Have a wonderful day…see you in church!
