Grace Christian Preschool provides a caring and secure environment where children learn about Jesus and the love he has for them. This is the foundation and fundamental basis for our program. Additionally, children are provided opportunities to develop age-appropriate skills based on their individual ability level.
Our preschoolers have so much fun learning, playing, creating, singing, and dancing.
Claudia’s greatest desire was to be a teacher of young children. She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvanian and earned a BS in Home Economics with a concentration in Child Development. She continued on to earn her Master’s Degree in Human Development and the Family. As a graduate assistant, she taught Child Development classes and she assisted in the IUP Childcare Program at IUP. She took a course to become an Administrator of a Childcare Center, but without experience to acquire such a position, she used her degrees to teach Home Economics and Adult Education Classes. But God blessed her with an opportunity to return to school to earn an Early Childhood teaching certificate and she immediately acquired a Kindergarten teaching position first at Marion Center and eventually Indiana Area School District. She continued her education to learn new strategies of teaching and how to individualize instruction. Claudia loved her job! Her License Plate for many years was LUVKIDS.
Claudia resides in Indiana, Pa with her husband Brian. She has 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren. She retired after 32 years teaching Kindergarten, looking for a new adventure. Now Claudia has acquired her dream job of teaching young children using all the skills she’s learned over the years. But the best part of all is that she can teach them about JESUS in a Christian setting. She believes that young children should be taught with face-to-face instruction, in a hands-on environment with experiential learning. Claudia looks forward to welcoming your children into Grace Christian Preschool and into her classroom.
Stacy Bartlebaugh: Assistant Teacher
Stacey has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is an all-around educator and business manager. She has her own personal training business and through this career choice, she has enjoyed teaching exercise classes to children, teens, and adults at the YMCA and outreach programs. She has also helped organize programs for children at Homer Center School. Stacey has just recently joined the staff as the assistant teacher. However, she has jumped in with both feet, offering her creativity and enthusiasm, and demonstrates total enjoyment in assisting in the 3-year-old classroom.
Susan Brown: 4-5 year old Pre-K Teacher
Mrs. Brown joined our staff in Fall 2025, after 30 years of teaching experience. She has a BS and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, Special Education and concentrated studies in Child Development.
She has taught children from K-6th grade, many with special academic needs. Her teaching experience included positions in Oil City School District, Highbridge School District (NJ), Brooklake Christian School (NJ), and finally Indiana Area School District where she retired after 20 of teaching at East Pike Elementary School. Sue has subbed some long-term positions post-retirement with the Knoch Area School District (grade 4 and 5) and Indiana Area (Learning Support K/1st). Presently Sue has a tutoring studio at her home where students attend weekly during the summers, and after school during the school year.
Susan has 4 grown children and 9 grandchildren, who all live in western PA. She resides with her husband Doug in Indiana, PA. She is looking forward to teaching the 4–5-year-old pre-K class this year, helping the students not only grow academically, but most significantly, cultivating and growing in their faith with Jesus.
Kim Sobolweski: Assistant Teacher
Kim Sobolewski came to Indiana from Buffalo, New York, 33 years ago with her husband, Stan, who teaches in the IUP Physics Department. Together, they raised their four children in Indiana and were actively involved in the Indiana High School Marching Band.
Kim got her start in early childhood education during her undergraduate years in Buffalo State College. While studying there, she also enjoyed directing an extended day program at the Park School of Buffalo.
After moving to Indiana, she spent 15 years teaching at Zion Lutheran Preschool before retiring in 2018. She holds a degree in Developmental Studies from IUP, with concentrations in psychology and child development.
With more than 40 years of experience working with preschoolers, she is excited to return to the classroom and continue sharing her love of learning with young children.
Administrator: Pastor Marty Christian
The Administrator of Grace Christian Preschool is Pastor Marty who was instrumental in developing this new program in the church. He has been the Children’s Ministry Pastor at Grace Church for the past 7 years. His ministry involves coordinating all Children’s Sunday School and Kids Church programs in our church, organizing an After School Program 1 day each week, coordinating the summer Bible School Program, and other special Children’s events throughout the year.
