Weekly News – February 7, 2020

Finally!   Some real winter weather for all of us snow lovers.  It sure makes a beautiful picture.  Stay safe and warm, and be careful out there.

Adopt-a-Student Program.  If you are interested in participating in this very meaningful ministry, please plan on attending a luncheon meeting in Fellowship Hall immediately following the 11:00 service on Sunday, February 16.

Pictorial Directory Update:  If you have not had a chance to get your picture taken in the past for our informal pictorial directory, you may get your picture taken today by Dawn Winstead.  Report to the area between the Welcome Center and the elevator after the 9:00 or 11:00 worship service.  If you have a picture to submit, please email to: ckrager2@gmail.com. PLEASE NOTE:  This directory is for all who attend Grace Church.

New Member classes have been scheduled for anyone interested in joining Grace Church:  This Sunday, February 09 at 10:00 am, February 16 at noon (pizza provided), February 23 at 10:00 am, and March 01 at noon (pizza provided). Those completing the classes will join the church on Sunday, March 08 during worship services.  Please call the church office TODAY, Friday, February 7 if you wish to attend the classes and join the church on March 08, or write it in on a connect card and place it in the offering plate.

Cancer & COURAGE, is a group for those living with cancer.  We will meet this Sunday, February 09 from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in the Parlors.  If you or someone that you know is interested – come join us for fellowship, support and information.

All ladies are invited to attend Women’s Fellowship in the parlors this Tuesday, February 11 at 7:00 pm to make no-sew blankets for the spring mission trip to Bethel Bible Village.  Please plan to join us as we continue this time-honored tradition of blessing the young people there with these gifts of warmth and love.  Contact Sue Stitt with any questions.

The IUP basketball program invites you to attend “Faith Night” at KCAC on Saturday, February 15 at no cost.  AND Veterans get a free meal between 5:00 and 7:00 pm.  The women’s game begins at 5:30.  Men’s game begins at 7:30.  Following the men’s game, Christian athletes and coaches will be giving public testimonies.  Vouchers (which can be exchanged in KCAC for tickets) are available in the church office, or by contacting Kenny Schramko at 724-584-6920.

We will be sending a mission team to Bethel Bible Village in Tennessee on March 07.  If you are interested in being a part of the team, please attend an informational meeting on Sunday, February 16 at 10:15 am in the GIM Building.  If you cannot attend the meeting, but would like information about the trip, please call Larry Catlos at 724-463-7788.

Senior Adults:  Enjoy brunch in Fellowship Hall and celebrate the life of Indiana’s favorite son of the Silver Screen with a visit to The Jimmy Stewart Museum during their Silver Anniversary in 2020:  Thursday, February 27. Sign up in the Welcome Center and pay the $10 registration fee to the church office by February 17.  Fee includes lunch in Fellowship Hall and entrance to Museum.

Got Cabin Fever?  Food, fun and fellowship for all at the College Lodge, 239 College Lodge Road in Indiana on Friday February  28, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  You can enjoy the winter slopes or the cozy fire!  Sign up in the Welcome Center or call the church office by February 23.  Drinks and main dish provided.  Sponsored by the Lifers Grace Group!  Bring:  your sled riding equipment and attire, covered dish to share, and games.

“Lord, Teach Us to Pray!” is coming . . .
Grace Prayer Team is bringing this dynamic event to Grace Church February 21-23!  Aldersgate Renewal Ministries, a national United Methodist organization, whose mission is to assist churches and individuals to learn to pray more effectively and to connect more intimately with God, will lead us into the Lenten season and  we invite you to be part of this exciting event.  Sign up today in the Welcome Center, by calling the Church office at 724-463-8535, or online by February 16 at indianagrace.org. The cost for the entire event, including the notebook and lunch on Saturday, is $20.

This year’s Easter Play will be held on Thursday, April 09, and Friday, April 10.  Anyone interested is invited to be a part of this event.  We need both actors and people behind the scenes.  If you are interested, please sign up in the Welcome Center.

Auditions for speaking parts will be held on February 23rd following the 11:00 service in the sanctuary.  The following are the roles needed:  male lead (age 30-55), young girl lead (age 10-15) has a solo—please be prepared to sing at the audition, 5 young girls (age 10-15), 3 women, 13 men, Jesus, 8 prophets  (these will be video-taped prior to the performance), extra actor – no audition needed, back stage, technical and costumes.

            Singers needed!  If you can sing, please plan to join us as we prepare for “Why Can’t They See” – our exciting new Easter  play for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday (April 09 & 10).   All singers are welcome.  This year there are opportunities to sing and/or dance on stage (in costume) as one of the actors – or just sing “backstage” as a choir member.   Music rehearsals will start Thursday, February 27, from 7:00 to 7:30 pm in the choir room (203).  Please come and share your singing (and/or acting) skill with others as we spread the glorious news of our Lord, Jesus Christ.  For more information, check out the bulletin and upcoming email blasts; or  you could contact Tina at 724-463-8535, ext. 25 or tstclair@indianagrace.org.   Auditions for the play will begin on Sunday, February 23 following the 11:00 worship service.

To all who volunteer with children and youth:  A Safe Sanctuary class will be held in the Parlor on February 29 at 9 a.m.   The class will also include instruction of how to update clearances.

Please plan to attend the Love Indiana Community Prayer Initiative. It will be hosted by Covenant Way Church, 1292 Old Route 119 Highway North in Indiana, on Sunday, February 09.  Worship and prayer will be held from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm.   We’d love to have a good representation from Grace Church at this community-wide event.

Wednesday Night Dinner Menu for February 5:
Open-face Meatloaf Sandwich, French Fries, Cole Slaw and Dessert.   Reservations are required.  You may sign up in the welcome center or call the church office by 4 pm on Tuesday, February 11.
