WEEKLY NEWS – SEPTEMBER 30, 2022

Good morning,

Please be in prayer for the families and individuals in Florida.

Lord, we pray that you protect and comfort the people in Florida who are facing the aftermath of hurricane Ian.  We acknowledge that there is no power stronger or mightier than yours.  May these folks draw on your strength as they begin the recovery process.  Amen.

Our Unshakable Kingdom series continues this Sunday with Pastor Bill’s message entitled Ambassadors for the Kingdom.  The scripture lesson is from Luke 13:18-21.   If you are reading along in the E. Stanley Jones book, the associated reading in the Yellow Spine book is Pages 178-200, and in the Black Spine book – Pages 124-143.

DISAFFILIATION INFORMATION MEETINGS
So that everyone may be well informed about the process for disaffiliation from the United Methodist Church, Pastor Bill and other leadership personnel will lead informational meetings in Fellowship Hall.  Two meetings will be held Tuesday, October 4.  You may attend at either 10 a.m. or 7 p.m.   After information is provided, there will be question and answer period.

A SPECIAL CHARGE CONFERENCE REGARDING DISAFFILIATION WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 16, 2022 AT 7:30 PM IN OUR SANCTUARY.   The first of three votes on disaffiliation will be taken at this meeting.  Voting Rights: You must be a member in good standing to vote.   If you are attending but not sure of your membership status, please contact the church office to make sure.   A member in good standing implies that you joined the church formally at some time,  and you are keeping the vows of membership of “faithfully supporting the church with your prayers, presence, gifts and service.”

Please Note:
Our regular Annual Charge Conference is still scheduled for October 18th at the Marion Center United Methodist.

Family Movie Night is TONIGHT, September 30 at 6:00 PM in the Kids Theater. Kids are welcome to wear pajamas. We will be serving popcorn, ice-cream and whatever else we think of!

We will celebrate All Saints Sunday on October 30.  If you lost a loved one during the last year and would like to recognize them, please add their name to the list in the Welcome Center, call the church office at 724-463-8535, or email the name to jlemmon@indianagrace.org before October. 24.

Our first Sweet Hour of Prayer was an enriching and encouraging session. Prayer changes things…and ourselves! When we come together to pray, we are fulfilling the scripture of “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I with them”.    As we face many challenges in our church and our community, and when we pray, we can see God’s hand at work in our lives and in the life of our Church.  So, join us for our next session so we can be a people of prayer and a church of prayer together.  We will meet for a “Sweet Hour of Prayer” on Monday, October 3rd at 7 PM in Room 101 (Church Street side of the parlors).   Our Prayer Committee will lead us in prayers for our church, our community and for any personal concerns that may be lifted for prayer.

Just for laughs:
“I was born in Africa,” said the child of a missionary.
“What part?” the Sunday school teacher asked.
“All of me!” she replied.

Have a great day.
