One week every year, Grace Church takes the love of Jesus past our own walls and into the streets, homes and neighborhoods of Indiana.
We study together, we pray together, and then we go to work. There is a place in it for everyone, whether you have a full week to give or a couple of hours.
It is not a program the church runs at the community. It is a congregation learning to love this city the way Jesus loves it, and then putting that love to work where people can see it.
Before the week arrives, small groups across the church work through Love Our City together. Groups meet on different days and at different times, on campus and off, so most schedules can find one that fits.
Teams take on real needs around town. Yard work, cleaning, repairs, meals, supplies, and a set of hands for neighbors and local organizations who could use one.
Every project is carried by prayer before the week, during it and after it. Praying for Love Indiana is not the small job. It is the one the rest of it rests on.
Pick the one that fits your season. Every one of these is on the form at the bottom of this page, so signing up takes about a minute.
Spend a few weeks with a group getting ready for the week together. Studies meet mornings, afternoons and evenings, so there is usually one that lines up with your week.
Take one project and see it through. You gather the team, set the day and make the calls. The committee helps with the rest.
Show up and work. No experience needed and no long commitment. Most projects take a few hours, and every team needs more hands than it has.
Commit to praying for the projects, the leaders and the people being served. If you cannot lift a shovel this year, you can still carry the whole week.
Projects need materials, supplies and food. A gift toward Love Indiana puts tools in someone else’s hands and pays for what the work takes.
Know a neighbor, a family or an organization in Indiana who could use a hand? Tell us about them. Some of the best projects started as somebody’s idea.
Not sure where you fit yet? Check any box on the form below and we will help you find a spot.
The committee plans the week, lines up the projects and keeps everything moving. You can reach any of them through the church office.
