WEEKLY NEWS – 09/24/2021

It’s Fall, y’all!   The brisk temperature this morning sure confirmed the season!   Football, homecoming, final harvests and beautiful color all make this a favorite season for so many people.  We hope you will find joy in each day whether or not this is your favorite time of year.
MIDNIGHT MISSION is Friday, October 1st.   Are you looking for a way to show the love of Christ in a tangible way?  Providing some baked goods for Midnight Mission is one great way to do that.  Students have told us for years how much they love and miss homemade treats.  You can drop off goodies inside the main entrance on Thursday and Friday between 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM. You can also be a part of handing out those cookies and hotdogs.  There will be sign-ups in the Welcome Center.  The Mission will go from 9:00pm to 12:30 am.  Pastor Caleb and Phil Floyd are heading up this event and would love to have you join them in this outreach mission.
Many IUP Students have been attending church services since the start of this semester.  It is so good to welcome them into our church family.  Not only are they attending services, but they are also coming out to serve.  One fraternity called to offer their services when we need some manpower, a girls softball team and many other IUP students come out to pack rice and beans last evening, and still others are volunteering with the After School Program.  We are blessed to have them with us.   Let’s be a blessing to them!
COMMUNITY EVANGELISM   If you would like to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the community right outside our walls, please come to the parlor (Room 102) after the 2nd service on September 26th.  We will talk, eat pizza and pray together, and then go out into the streets and ask people a simple but powerful question: “Hello, may I talk with you about Jesus?”  The harvest is plentiful, and it is God alone who uses willing servants to change lives.  Questions?  Contact Wes Tomer 724-953-1448.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

If you are looking for an Adult Sunday School class, there are two that meet between the worship services at 10:10 AM. The Live Wire class meets in Room 102 (Parlor) and the Journey Class meets in Room 208 at the corner of Fellowship Hall.

We are starting a new Sunday School Class titled “Learn the Bible.”  It will run every Sunday from 10:10 to 11:00 AM in Room 205 starting September 26, 2021 following the 9 AM Service.  It is geared towards two groups: 1) those who know nothing about the Bible but are anxious to learn, and 2) those who are familiar with the Bible but would like a deeper understanding of main characters, the timeline, and background information of first century life when Jesus came on the scene.   It will be led by Kenny Schramko.  You can contact him at 724-584-6920 or steelersfan345@gmail.com with any questions.   All are welcome!

Welcome, all College students and Young Professionals. Join us for fellowship, prayer, and Bible Study!
If you want to make new friends and practically apply God’s word to life – join us in Room 207 – just off Fellowship Hall on Sunday mornings at 10:10 a.m.   It’s a great class and a great way to meet new friends.

While we still live stream each worship service, we are happy to see more and more people coming to our live services where you can actively participate in worship.  This Sunday, Pastor Bill begins a new series on Biblical Trios.   The sermon title for this week is Adam and Eve’s Three Sons (Murderer/Correct Sacrifices/Legacy).   Please join us!  After the most recent sermon series, perhaps you’ve been convicted to share Jesus with others.   Inviting someone to church is a big step in sharing Jesus.   Why not start this Sunday.

The altar flowers this Sunday are presented by Tom and Diane Hetrick in memory of their parents.

Enjoy the sunshine and have a great day!
