WEEKLY NEWS – SEPTEMBER 2, 2022

Sunday Services this week will include Communion at both services.  Pastor Bill’s message is entitled Moderation in All Things.  The Scripture text is from Luke 10:25-37.   Next Sunday, September 11 we will begin the Unshakable Kingdom Sermon Series.

Unshakable Kingdom books will once again be available in the Welcome Center BETWEEN SERVICES.   The E. Stanley Jones Foundation was unable to have another supply printed in time for us, but Pastor Brad Lauster came to our rescue!   He had access to a supply of the books that were found to have a few typographical errors before the second printing.   He’s made those available to us at a reduced cost of $5 per book.   It is the same material, and the minor typos do not affect the integrity of the writings.   A few of the $7 books are also available in the church office.

We still need folks to pack the rice & beans for PACK HOPE – You can do it!!!   Just go to our website, indianagrace.org and click on EVENTS.   The signup page for packing rice and bean meals will open. You just need to fill in your name, email and the time you’re able to help.   Please sign up today!!!

SOUND:
We are delighted to have many young people attending our contemporary services!  With everything demanding their attention, it is good to know that they have the need and desire to be in worship and in fellowship with other believers.  In our attempts to draw younger people who are used to concerts, we are trying to speak their music language.  Since this requires fuller sound, we are sensitive to those who need lower volume.  So, we are trying this solution!   In the alcoves under each side balcony, the speakers have been turned down so there is a place for those who prefer the lower volume. (If you don’t need lower volume, please save those areas for those who do.   We hope and pray this helps anyone who may need this.

Regardless of which volume you most appreciate, we are so thankful that we can come together to… “Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.”  – Psalm 150

MINISTRY FAIR – ALL MINISTRIES MATTER!
Over the past month or so, we have highlighted some of our church ministries.  On Sunday, September 11th you have an opportunity to check out the many ministries we have here at Grace Church.   It’s a great opportunity for you to find your niche to serve.  Plan to visit the Ministry Fair in Fellowship Hall between services and after the contemporary service.   Refreshments will be available, and the ministry leaders will be present to help you discern where you would like to get involved.  There are so many benefits to serving:  1) Helping others feels good!; 2) It brings a sense of belonging and reduces isolation; 3) It helps keep things in perspective; 4) It helps to make the world a happier place—it’s contagious!; 5) The more you do for others, the better you feel about yourself, and 6) It strengthens your relationship with God.

The Annual Church Picnic is on September 18th at 3 PM  with dinner served at 4.  So that we will have adequate supplies and food, please sign up in the Welcome Center.   The Grace Life Team is working hard to provide another great picnic experience for the entire church family.  Add to that the inaugural Corn Hole Tournament that will begin at 3:30.   (It’s not too late to sign up for the big contest by emailing Dave Watkins at zacchaeus29@comcast.net).

To ensure a variety of foods, we suggest the following covered dishes – each to serve at least 12 – 15 people
Last names beginning with A – I  –  Dessert

Last names beginning with S – Z  – Cold Side Dish
Meat, drinks and table service are provided.

Just for laughs:
A woman was in line to receive communion one Sunday, and her cell phone rang just as the pastor was giving her the elements.  The woman turned beet red, stammered an apology, and attempted to get her phone shut off.  Without skipping a beat, the pastor said, “Tell them we don’t do takeout.”
